                                              NOTICE,

                          NOTICE is hereby given that Sir Charles. Calvert.
                        Bowring, Knight Commander of the Most Excellent
                        Order of the British Empire, Companion of the Most
                        Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint
                        George, the Senior Member of the Hxecutive Council
                        has, by virtue of the provisions of the Letters Patent
                       passed under the Great Seal of the United Kingdom
                       constituting the office of Governor and Communder-
                       in-Chief of the Colony of Kenya and providing for
                       the Government thereot, to-day assumed the admin-
                       istration of the Government of the Colony on the
                       departure from the Colony of His Uxceliency the
                       Governor, and has taken the prescribed oaths.
