                PORTS ORDINANCE (CHAPTER 155)

 Nigerian Ports Authority Pilotage (Amendment) Regulations, 1961
   aw                 Commencement : 6th July, 1961
  The Nigerian Ports Authority in exercise of the powers and authority
vested in them by section 58 of the Ports Ordinance, and of every power in
that behalf vested in them do make the following regulations—

   1, These regulations may be cited as the Nigerian Ports Authority Pilotage Title and
(Amendment) Regulations, 1961 and shall come into force on the 6th day _ © commence

  2. The Nigerian Ports Authority Pilotage Regulations, 1961 are hereby           Addition of

“Compul-      14a. Pilotage shall be compulsory for every ship exceeding          1961.
pilotage . 10 tons gross tonnage entering, leaving or changing its berth
            within thefollowing districts—
                (i) the whole of thespilotage district of the port of Lagos
              established under the Nigerian Ports Authority Pilotage
              Districts Order, 1959 ;
                (ii) the pilotage districts A and B ofthe port ofPort Harcourt
              established under the Nigerian Ports Authority Pilotage
              Districts Order, 1959 ; and                                     a
                (it) the buoyed deep water channel between a position
              bearing 158°—8.45 miles from Fouche Beacon anda position
              bearing 1134°—5.9 miles from Fouche Beacon.”
   The Common Seal of the Nigerian Ports Authority       was hereunto affixed
by order of the said Authority this 14th day of April, 1961: in the presence

                            EXPLANATORY NOTE

   In exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section 120 of the Ports
 Ordinance I direct. publication of the foregoing amendment to the Nigerian
 Ports Authority Pilotage Regulations, 1961 as a Legal Notice in the Gazette.
