 Aw ACT TO AMEND THE ELECTORAL Act 1982 AND For MATTERS CONNECTED
      “THEREWITH.

  1       BE IT ENACTED bythe National Assembly of the Federal -
  2   Republic of Nigeria as follows—

  3       1. Section 5 of the principal Act is hereby amended—                  Amendment
                                                                                to section 5
          (a) in subsection (1) thereof by substituting for the words ‘an       of principal

          (6) in subsection (2) thereof by inserting immediately after

        2 Section 8 of the principal Actis hereby amended by adding             Amendment:

 10   immediately after subsection (6) thereof the following new subsection—    of principal

11        “(7) Where there ‘is a gross abuseof the use ofregistration cards
 12    and they are found in large quantities during or after the compilation
13. or revision of voters’ registers, in unauthorized hands, the National

14      Assembly i3 n joint sessionshall, by majority vote pass a resolution,

15      six months before the dissolution of the National Assembly QF an
 16    election, as the case may be, cancelling the use of registration cards
17     at any election,”
